Quality Tyres for Every Vehicle
Choosing the right tyres is about more than price. The right tyres improve braking performance, handling, fuel economy, and overall safety.
At Autostop Johnsonville, we supply and fit tyres for all makes and models, with access to trusted global brands suited to different vehicles, driving conditions, and budgets.
As an authorised Bridgestone dealer, we primarily recommend Bridgestone and Firestone tyres while also sourcing quality alternatives where appropriate. Rather than selling the most expensive tyre, we’ll recommend the option that best suits how and where you drive.

Not sure which tyre is right for your vehicle?
Our team will help you find the best option for your budget. We don’t push the most expensive option. We push the right one.
Our Tyre Services

Tyre Supply & Fitting
We supply and fit tyres for all passenger vehicles, SUVs, vans, and light commercial vehicles. New tyres are fitted, balanced, and torqued to specification. We dispose of your old tyres responsibly.

Wheel Balancing
Correctly balanced wheels eliminate vibration and reduce uneven tyre wear. We use modern wheel balancing equipment for accurate results. Balancing is recommended whenever new tyres are fitted or if you experience steering wheel vibration

Wheel Alignment
Incorrect wheel alignment causes uneven and accelerated tyre wear, and affects handling, particularly noticeable as the vehicle pulling to one side. We use four-wheel alignment equipment to measure and correct alignment to manufacturer specification. Recommended after hitting a significant pothole, kerb, or if you notice uneven tyre wear.

Puncture Repairs
Not every puncture means a new tyre. If the damage is repairable, located in the tyre’s tread area and not too large, we can carry out a proper internal repair that meets industry standards. We’ll always tell you honestly if a repair is safe and appropriate, or if the tyre should be replaced.

Nitrogen Tyre Inflation
Nitrogen molecules are larger than air molecules, which means they hold pressure more consistently over time and across temperature changes. This leads to more stable tyre pressures, better fuel economy, and longer tyre life. We offer nitrogen inflation as standard on our Silver and Gold service plans, and as an add-on at any time.

Free Tyre Safety Checks
We offer a free tyre safety check at any time, no appointment needed. We’ll check and adjust your tyre pressures, inspect tread depth across all four tyres (and your spare), and flag any concerns about tyre condition or age. Takes about 5 minutes. It’s free because we think it’s the right thing to do.

When Should You Replace Your Tyres?
New Zealand’s legal minimum tread depth is 1.5mm, but tyre performance begins reducing well before that point.
For maximum safety, we generally recommend replacement once tyres reach around 2–3mm of tread, particularly if you regularly drive in wet conditions.
Other signs your tyres may need replacing include:
- Cracked or damaged sidewalls
- Bulges in the tyre
- Uneven tread wear
- Frequent punctures
- Tyres more than 5–6 years old
- Persistent vibration while driving
If you’re unsure, we’ll inspect your tyres and give honest advice.

Fleet & Commercial Vehicle Servicing FAQs
Tyres should be replaced when tread depth approaches 2–3mm, if there is visible cracking, uneven wear, bulges, or damage. We can inspect your tyres and advise whether replacement is necessary.
We recommend checking wheel alignment every 12 months, whenever new tyres are fitted, after hitting a pothole or kerb hard, or if your vehicle pulls to one side.
Wheel balancing evenly distributes the weight of the wheel and tyre assembly to reduce vibration, improve ride comfort, and prevent uneven tyre wear.
Many punctures can be safely repaired if the damage is within the tread area and meets industry safety standards. If the tyre cannot be safely repaired, we’ll recommend a replacement.
We supply Bridgestone, Firestone, Supercat, Dayton, Michelin, Continental, Pirelli, and can source many other major tyre brands.
Yes. We provide free tyre safety checks including tyre pressure adjustment, tread inspection, and tyre condition assessments during business hours.
Nitrogen maintains tyre pressure more consistently and can help reduce pressure loss over time. While not essential, many drivers choose it for improved tyre performance and longevity.
Yes. Incorrect tyre pressures, poor wheel alignment, and worn tyres can all increase rolling resistance, leading to higher fuel consumption.
It’s often recommended. Correct wheel alignment helps new tyres wear evenly and maximises their lifespan.
